Through its eight local medical societies and under the direction of the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Council, the Old North State Medical Society (ONSMS) Tobacco Cessation Education Program serves to train member physicians and other healthcare providers about implementing system change and treating tobacco use dependence. In contrast to strategies that target only the clinician or the tobacco user, systems strategies are intended to ensure that tobacco use is systematically assessed and treated at every clinical encounter. |
