In this month's issue . . .

Welcome to the first edition of TRU News!  As promised at our recent annual meeting, NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund (HWTF) staff plan to carry the spirit of that gathering forward with this monthly communication on the first Friday.  That means more sharing of resources . . . more inclusion of expertise . . . and more attention to your accomplishments and challenges.

To meet these goals we need your regular input.  Send your grant manager stories and photos of your events.  Videos and audio recordings also can be shared along with newspaper articles with links.  No need to keep your stories secret.

As we introduce new sources of information, they will be stored in the TRU Toolkit.  This "library" will grow with each issue and you will have more reasons to turn to it than ever before.

The audience for TRU News extends beyond grantees.  Much of the information presented here will be for grantee use, but we intend to feature material of general interest to a broader market of policy makers, health professionals, educators and citizens interested in tobacco control issues.

Not everything will interest everyone, but we believe there will be something in every issue that you will find of value.

"News you can use."
