Northwest Halifax TATU will encourage students nd faculty on all four lunches to sign pledge cards to lead a smokefree life. There also will be a raffle at each lunch for those who pledged to get a chance at winning a prize. The art classes will participate in poster contest with the theme:"Helping Build a Smokefree Planet!" All Art work will be posted in the cafeteria and three winners will be chosen by a judging committee.

The owner of Fat Tony's has decided to have a smoke free day in celebration of GASO. He's offering a free dessert to any smokers who quit for the day. A local radio station will be doing a live remote from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Coastal will be there to hand out information.

Southeast Halifax High School

T.A.T.U. (Teens Against Tobacco Use) peer educators will set up a tobacco awareness educational Lunch "N" Learn display with tobacco facts, quitting tips and the 1-800-QUIT-NOW number. Decorative arrows will be displayed throughout the school with tobacco facts and quitting information on them leading to the display center. Students will also be signing the GASO pledge, promising to stay or become tobacco-free. Incentives will be available for those signing the pledge.
