Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch (TPCB)
The Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch is the lead agency within the NC Division of Public Health, Department of Health and Human Services responsible for tobacco prevention and control. Funding comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Legacy Foundation, and HWTF for training and technical assistance. Coordinates Vision 2010: North Carolina's comprehensive plan to prevent and reduce the health effects of tobacco use. The Branch provides direct training and technical assistance to the HWTF's grantees, CDC grantees, and Health Promotion Block Grant recipients. The Branch Coordinator provides technical assistance activities throughout the Teen Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation initiative. Fosters effective tobacco use prevention programs by building capacity, programs, resources/tools, policy design and implementation strategies. Serves as the Community/School and Priority Populations grantees’ first contact to clarify needs, identify resources, educate, problem solve and make referrals as appropriate.
